KY Workers' Comp for First Responders

KY Workers’ Comp for First Responders

Episode 29:  In today’s episode, attorney Jeff Roberts discusses Kentucky workers’ comp for first responders.  We often think of factory workers, construction workers and other occupations, but first responders are also covered by workers comp.  Let’s join Jeff for today’s discussion. There are very few types of jobs in Kentucky that are exempt from workers’ compensation.  Even though first responders have inherently dangerous jobs, they deserve the same protection provided by workers’ comp benefits. Police officers and other law enforcement personnel are on the front lines every day.  Their risks …

Injuries resulting in Amputations

Handling Accidents Involving Amputations

Episode 26:  In today’s episode, personal injury attorney Jeff Roberts discusses injuries resulting in a loss of use or an amputation.  This is a difficult topic, but he has over 28 years of experience representing clients who have suffered these due to workplace injuries, trucking collisions, car wrecks and motorcycle accidents. Kentucky Loss of Limb Injury

As a personal injury attorney, I’ve seen examples of many types of car wreck injuries.  We commonly think of broken bones, neck or back injuries.  Some of these are reduced as more people remember to use their seat belts.  However, this safety measure doesn’t prevent a loss of limb injury. Intersection Wreck Involving 3 Cars

Intersections are among the most dangerous areas of the road.  If you think about it, you probably travel through hundreds of them each week.  A recent western Kentucky newspaper reported an intersection wreck involving 3 cars. In this collision, the first car was struck by the second car and they collided with a third car, which was sitting at the intersection.  Even if you’re not in one of the cars involved in the primary collision, this example proves how other vehicles can also be at risk. Common Causes for Collisions …

Distracted Driving in Western Kentucky

Earlier this summer, KFVS12 reported on a Livingston County fatal collision involving a car and a tractor trailer.  It appears the driver of the car didn’t realize that traffic had slowed ahead of her.  She apparently tried to switch lanes but was forced to return to her lane.  She collided with a tractor trailer after losing control of her car.  It may have been a case of distracted driving. Unfortunately, we see all too many wrecks on I-24.  Between construction zones, access ramps, tractor trailer traffic and inattentive drivers, it …
