Kentucky Loss of Limb Injury

As a personal injury attorney, I’ve seen examples of many types of car wreck injuries.  We commonly think of broken bones, neck or back injuries.  Some of these are reduced as more people remember to use their seat belts.  However, this safety measure doesn’t prevent a loss of limb injury. In an automobile accident, the forces exerted on the human body are extremely violent.  If the collision results in a rollover, hands and arms can be severely damaged if they are extended outside of the car and get trapped between …

Intersection Wreck Involving 3 Cars

Intersections are among the most dangerous areas of the road.  If you think about it, you probably travel through hundreds of them each week.  A recent western Kentucky newspaper reported an intersection wreck involving 3 cars. In this collision, the first car was struck by the second car and they collided with a third car, which was sitting at the intersection.  Even if you’re not in one of the cars involved in the primary collision, this example proves how other vehicles can also be at risk. Common Causes for Collisions …

Distracted Driving in Western Kentucky

Earlier this summer, KFVS12 reported on a Livingston County fatal collision involving a car and a tractor trailer.  It appears the driver of the car didn’t realize that traffic had slowed ahead of her.  She apparently tried to switch lanes but was forced to return to her lane.  She collided with a tractor trailer after losing control of her car.  It may have been a case of distracted driving. Unfortunately, we see all too many wrecks on I-24.  Between construction zones, access ramps, tractor trailer traffic and inattentive drivers, it …

Be Safe This Halloween

Autumn is upon us.  Here in our beautiful part of the state, it means Friday night football, MSU Racer football and some great times with family and friends.  October 31st is a fun evening that kids and parents look forward to each year. The Roberts Law Office wants to remind all of us to be safe this Halloween. Many communities have moved up the time for trick or treating from the time when I was a child.  This enables younger children to make the rounds before the sun goes down.  …

Can Passengers Sue the Driver?

Last week, a teenager was driving when the car ran into the median.  It subsequently flipped onto its side.  The driver was accompanied by two passengers.  There are no further reports about injuries.  So, what happens if you’re a in a one car accident in a car driven by someone else?  Can passengers sue the driver? As with any car wreck, if you are hurt in an accident, seek immediate medical attention.  The reason for doing this, even if you think it will be fine, is to document any injuries.  …

Tips for a Dog Bite Case

After more than 25 years of experience with dog bite injuries in Murray, Paducah and Southwestern Kentucky, I have a few tips regarding a dog bite case and how to handle the resulting injuries.  Man’s best friend can sometimes turn out to be a dangerous animal.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), almost 1 in 5 people who are bitten by a dog will need to seek medical treatment.  A dog bite can be serious because the injuries involved can including infections, scarring and potentially death. …

Injured at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville

As a Kentucky workers’ compensation attorney, I received calls from employees of small businesses, construction companies, grocery store employees and big box stores such as Lowe’s or Home Depot.  There’s another group of employees that sometimes get overlooked.  These are the state employees.  I can and do help Department of Corrections employees who were injured at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville Kentucky. The Eddyville correctional facility is a maximum (or “supermax”) security prison.  The “Castle on the Cumberland” houses some of the state’s most violent prisoners.  Prison guards, food …

Murray State Student Involved in a Car Wreck

Murray State University is a regional university with an annual enrollment of over 10,000 students.  Most of these students bring cars to campus.  Unfortunately, is quite possible that a Murray State student involved in a car wreck while driving to/from Murray, or while driving around town, will need legal help. It’s helpful to have a local, Murray personal injury attorney to help both the student and his/her parents to navigate the complexities of an injury claim.  Most of the time, the case will need to be handled in Kentucky, even …
